This isn’t a full restaurant review, but I couldn’t wait to tell the world about the amazing breakfast biscuit sandwich I recently experienced.
Yes, it’s that serious! Gatlin’s BBQ, a Houston area BBQ restaurant, has a BBQ pork belly breakfast biscuit sandwich and it is perfection.
I follow Gatlin’s Chef Wallace on Instagram and she posted that the pork belly biscuit was back. Back!? Why had I never heard of this? In impulsive foodie fashion, I quickly made my way to the Oak Forest neighborhood for breakfast.
The breakfast biscuit sandwich consists of a fluffy, cheddar biscuit with barbecued pork belly, fried egg, and jelly. As soon as I opened the to-go box, I knew I was in for a treat!
Everything worked so well together. The slightly runny egg yolk sopped up by the cheddar biscuit. The rich flavor of smoky pork belly. The spicy-sweet pepper jelly. Ugh! If I could eat this every morning, life would be better.
Following chefs on Instagram keeps my timeline interesting and my “foods to try” list long. One minute I’m scrolling past beautiful hotel interiors (my not-so-secret obsession) then the next moment there’s a beautiful pork belly biscuit on the feed and my foodie world is upgraded a notch or two.
I plan to eventually revisit Gatlin’s BBQ for lunch or dinner so I can try the rest of their BBQ offerings. However, I’d add them to my BGMW List of Black Owned Restaurants off the strength of this perfect breakfast sandwich alone.
