Satisfy sweet tooth cravings at Cupcake Kitchen Houston.
Although I’ve been more consistent with my healthier lifestyle, I woke up with the overwhelming craving for cupcakes! Now, I’m usually not a fan of cupcakes that I didn’t make myself, but that’s only because of one too many experiences at overly praised cupcake chains with their abnormally large cupcakes and awful frosting.
However, this day was different; I wanted to restore my faith in the world of cupcakes. Based on a Instagram post from event planning company Lasting eMpressions, I decided to visit Cupcake Kitchen Houston. I loved that this was black girl owned and operated bakery, so I made my way to the intersection of Midtown and Third Ward and gave way to my sweet tooth.
Obviously, the foodie gods were blessing me, because Cupcake Kitchen Houston had a $2 cupcake special on a Saturday (they regularly have $2 Tuesdays). It was about to go down!

The strawberry cupcake featured an airy vanilla cupcake with strawberry syrup, butter creme frosting topped with a fresh, juicy strawberry.
One of Cupcake Kitchen Houston’s bestselling cupcake is a bestseller for good reason! Its buttery rich banana flavor pairs perfectly with the caramel drizzle and vanilla wafer cookie.
Cupcake Kitchen Houston’s dynamic menu features creative cupcake flavors for the more adventurous foodie. During my visit there were… wait for it… CINNAMON ROLL CUPCAKES! The cinnamon frosting topped with a miniature cinnamon roll left me feeling satisfied in a way I didn’t think cupcakes could. This is a must-have if you’re so lucky to visit when it’s on the menu.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Carrot Cupcake. The allspice flavored cake studded with moist flakes of carrot is topped with a rich cream cheese frosting and a toasted pecan. Talk about delicious!
If you’re in Houston and want cupcakes, pass on the big chain cupcake places. Trust me, the customer service experience at Cupcake Kitchen Houston is exceptional and the cupcakes are worth every calorie.
